The importance of design in security systems
The use of security systems, especially cameras, alarms and access, is increasing day by day. Almost every commercial, residential, and even public space needs security systems to guarantee security and surveillance.
Like many other processes, the effectiveness of security systems depends on many factors. Some of these factors are the type of equipment (cameras, for example), the network infrastructure, the area to be covered, etc. but, among them, one of the most important factors is the good design of the security system.
Designing security systems, especially integrated ones, is a process that involves many tools and techniques. At RATECH, design is treated as the most important elements of our work, as it facilitates the work during the installation or integration phase, as well as it clarifies in advance all the requirements and concerns of the client. Good design limits issues left to chance or eventual change.
RATECH has dedicated staff for design. They attach importance to the design tools and objectives of security systems, as well as the roles of design team leaders and team members.
Drawings are the heart of the design. They illustrate the designer’s concept of how the system relates to the building and the relationship of the equipment to their physical environment, to the cable and power grid, to each other, and to the users.
The technical specifications of the project and the products used are very important, as they not only describe what the system is designed for and what it can do, but they also have legal priority in the event of conflicts over system functionality.
The design can be seen as an additional cost to the budget allocated to the security system. But this extra cost will be reimbursed several times from savings in other directions. First, the design gives us a clear forecast of the system cost and leaves no room for chance. Second, a well-designed system works well as it should, saving on maintenance and repair costs.
Security systems are interconnected with many other systems and equipment, installed in the respective environment: electrical systems, doors, structures, elevators, lighting, etc. The good integration of these elements is decisive for the functioning of the project according to its purpose.
Specifying the right products for the project has a big impact on the success or failure of the designed system. It is important that the designer has enough space to choose between different brands and product categories in order to address all customer requirements.
At RATECH we attach great importance to the creation and organization of the design team. The project manager is the person responsible for coordinating the staff and all parts of the project, in order to submit a project that meets all customer requirements. The client has the opportunity to have direct contact with the project manager throughout the project design work.
Customer management is the process of managing the relationship between the company and the customer. The most important aspect of customer management is keeping the project within the defined purpose, deadline and budget.
A well-designed system will operate in accordance with the requirements for which it was installed. The whole effort for more security will be more effective and, consequently, more profitable.
Here we keep in mind that a well-designed system will take into account long-term possibilities, such as technological changes, system expansion or transfer, etc. All of these issues increase the effectiveness of the system in the long run and, consequently, help the business to grow and live longer.
A good design of a security system can only be designed by a designer with expertise and experience, like RATECH. As such, our designers are able to understand in detail your requirements and design the system that you need and that will work for you for many years.
